Christ the King School - Legislative Action

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program is funded annually through the education budget. Each year, the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference and the REACH Foundation are instrumental in lobbying for additional funding for this wonderful program. This year, two bills are being introduced, one in the House and one in the Senate, to increase funding to this vital program. The Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation needs your help to encourage our state legislators to support these bills, so we can continue to provide scholarship assistance for your school families.

We have a great opportunity to let our voices be heard. The REACH Alliance has set up a legislative action center through their website which will make it very easy for you and your parents to contact their local representatives. Below are the instructions.

To send a letter to your legislator, visit www.paschoolchoice.org.

Click on the contact your legislator function.
The Grassroots Action Center will appear. Choose the bill(s) you want to support. This bill will be the one that appears in your letter.
After clicking on your chosen bill, a take action button will appear. Click on that button.
If you are a new user, you are given the opportunity to register. If you are a returning user, just enter your information. You must give your home address so the appropriate legislator is contacted.
Then, you are shown your state representative or senator and have the option of choosing more, should you choose to do so. You are also given the option of sending an email or a letter. At this stage, you can make any changes to the letter written for you or you can create your own letter of support. (TIP: Legislators receive hundreds of letters every term. Personal ones are more likely to be noticed.)
When you have made the appropriate changes, click the send message button. Your letter will automatically be sent to your state legislator. Be sure to send a copy to yourself for your records.

I will be sending this information in a letter to the families who have been awarded scholarships for the upcoming school year. Let's not just limit this to scholarship families. It is important that all Catholic school families support this legislation because it can help keep children in our schools and our enrollments healthy.
